Right & Wrong Isn’t Always Black & White

The Corinthian church was plagued with problems… divisions were opening up, people were indulging in all sorts of sinful behaviour, they had misguided views on sex and relationships, their worship services were chaotic and confusing, their doctrine amiss and selfishness was rife! In many ways it’s a letter for our times. Not that we would have problems in our churches today…

Today everyone seems intent on standing up for their rights. With the advent of social media, everyone has access to their own public megaphone. But is there a higher principle to which we’ve been called? How do the rights and freedoms we have affect others around us? The apostle Paul draws these questions into focus in 1 Corinthians 8-10 through a discussion on a cultural issue of the day: what do the Corinthians do about food sacrificed to idols?
