Children’s Ministry

Catering for children of all ages with creative and interactive programmes on Sunday mornings and during the week. Check out what’s on offer for your family.

Safe Programmes

Through all of our programmes, your child’s safety is of utmost concern to us. That is why we have in place a strict children protection policy, only use police-vetted and vouched-for volunteers and why we will ask you to sign your kids in and out of their programmes. When your children are in an Orchard programme, you can have peace of mind that their safety is being protected to the best of our ability.

Sunday Morning Programmes

Creche (Age 0 – 3)

A special play area is set up at the back of the auditorium for families who wish to stay in the service. We also have a separate creche space in the foyer for kids to play or families feeling noise conscious. The service is streamed to the TV screens so you don’t have to miss out on church.

The Orchard Kids Juniors (Age 3 – 6)

We have a Sunday morning programme for our 3 to 6 year olds run by dedicated volunteers. Our leaders use games, activities, crafts and wonderful truths from the Bible to help nurture young hearts towards faith in Jesus.

The Orchard Kids Middles (Age 6 – 10)

The Middles kids group is a vibrant, friendly place for primary school children aged 6 to 10 years. Our desire is to see young hearts that grow in connection with God. We value the stories of the Bible as a means to show our children what God is like and how much he loves us. Most of our sessions involve actions songs, a teaching slot and a take home activity, that relates to the story and reminds the children of our main message.

We end each term with a super party and a celebration of all we have learnt. We use this time to give the children an opportunity to make a further commitment to the Lord Jesus, if they so desire.

The Orchard Kids Seniors (Age 10 – 13)

The Seniors kids group is a Sunday School class for 10- 13 year olds. Our aim is to encourage active faith in the Lord Jesus. We are intentional about engaging the young people in activities that require them to gain for themselves an understanding of God’s word. Each week we encourage “The Seniors” to bring their Bibles and reward those that do accordingly. We vary our teaching style and study material regularly to suit the youth we have. That is the serious stuff!

We also have a lot of fun. Our Sunday sessions have a relaxed conversational vibe with lots of fun games and rewards. We aim to have extra social events a year to create connections among this age group. These have included sleepovers, progressive dinners, challenges, adventures, beach visits and so on.

Mid Week Programmes

Mainly Music (Newborns to Beginning School)

Mainly music is a programme of music and movement followed by a yummy morning tea for kids and adults. Your kids will love it and you’ll enjoy socialising with other parents and our friendly volunteers.

Mainly Music runs on Fridays at 10am during the school term. Please bring $2 per child up to a maximum of $5.

Rally (Age 7 – 13)

Outside of Sunday mornings, we run Every Boys and Girls Rally (or Rally as it is more commonly called) during school terms. The ‘aims’ of the Rally movement are to build children into worthy and useful citizens in the community, using three specific areas:
SPIRITUAL – building strong Christian character
EDUCATIONAL – increased knowledge and understanding
PHYSICAL – developing physical fitness and team cooperation

At The Orchard we have two Rally groups held on Tuesdays fortnightly from 6.15pm – 8.00pm excluding school holidays. We have two age groups Jnr 7-10 and Snr 10-13.

The Orchard Rally usually holds some combined events each year with other local Rallies and also offers opportunities to explore the outdoors through camping.
