What is Counselling?
There are times in life when challenges feel overwhelming or uncertain. Counselling provides a safe, confidential space to explore what’s happening and find a way forward that feels right for you.
Our role is to walk alongside you with understanding and respect, supporting you as you gain clarity, build resilience, and move toward meaningful change.
Some reasons for seeking counselling include:
- Grief and loss
- Relationship & marriage concerns
- Anxiety, stress, and overwhelm
- Conflict & communication challenges
- Life transitions and change
- Spiritual or faith questions
Our Counsellor
Jodi Wichers is a qualified counsellor and provisional member of NZCCA. She has 15+ years of experience working with families, particularly children, teens and parents, and has lived locally for 30 years. She is married and Mother to four grown children.

Confidentiality
Counselling is a confidential service. If there are serious concerns about your safety or the safety of others, the limits of confidentiality may need to be extended, and this will be discussed with you. It is standard practice for counsellors to receive professional supervision to ensure you receive the best possible support, and Jodi will discuss her work with a supervisor as part of this process.
To work effectively, Jodi take notes during the sessions. While these notes are the property of The Orchard Church, they are managed solely by her. You may request a copy of your notes at any time; they are stored securely, kept for ten years, and then destroyed.
Pricing Guideline
Counselling sessions are $120 for a one-hour session. To ensure this service is accessible, subsidies are available courtesy of The Orchard Church for those who cannot afford the full fee. The table below provides a payment guideline.
If you are experiencing financial hardship, please speak directly with our counsellor — we are committed to working with you to find a suitable option.
The first counselling session is free for everyone.
