Church News

Hey Church!
We’re glad you’re here this morning. Our purpose is to help one another discover Christ and live life to the full as we teach the word of God, reach the world for God, encourage the people of God and exalt the name of God. Thank you for your partnership in this mission! Here’s what’s happening around our church as we seek to live this out.

Teach the Word of God

End Times Q&A
This week we’re beginning a new series, Keep Watch: God’s Future Plan, looking at what is on the prophetic horizon for the church. This series is all about bringing hope to God’s people. But this topic always raises questions! So, over the next 5 weeks (excluding July 12) we will be running a Q&A 10 minutes after the conclusion of the service. Grab a coffee and hurry back to the auditorium to delve a little deeper than what the sermon can provide!

The Old Testament Survey
We are offering a 14 week bachelor level course to help you fit the pieces of the Old Testament puzzle. Running over terms 3 and 4, Pastor Greg will teach his predominantly-online course that was taught at Adelaide College of Ministries. One of Greg’s passions is seeing people grasp the ideas and the relevance of the Old Testament which this survey has done time and time again. Email or text Greg to find out more or to register. If you want to understand the Bible, don’t miss this programme!

Winter Bible School
A message from the Winter Bible School Steering Team… Thank you to everyone at The Orchard Church who participated or served at our recent Winter Bible School. Your contribution helped to make this online Winter Bible School so successful, and to reach an even greater number of people the length of NZ than ever before. We trust the time was a real blessing to you. If you did miss the live stream, the recordings will be available at www.winterbibleschool.co.nz later this month.

Reach the World for God

Update from Murray and Joy Stevenson
Please pass on to the church family at the Orchard church our thanks for the gift of $3900 which we received from you recently via GCIM. We have used part of your gift to purchase paper and ink for printing more of the COVID 19 advice leaflets. The team in Lubumbashi have sent these leaflets translated into 6 tribal languages to our churches far and wide across the Katanga province… The full update is available at the Connection Centre or on our church website.

Repair Café
Repair Cafe & Car Boot Sale/Market is on 9am – 12.30pm, Saturday 11th July. Come along or contact Vanessa on vanessa@theorchard.net.nz if you want to know more or to reserve a boot sale spot.

Encourage the People of God

Life Groups are back up and running and we’re excited to announce a new daytime group! It runs from 9:45am to 11:15am in the Church lounge, with time for catching up over tea and coffee and Bible study. To join an existing life group in your area, please contact Pastor Nelson at nelson@theorchard.net.nz

Senior Achievers will meet next Monday, 6th July at 10am in the Church lounge for morning tea and a time of fellowship together. Please ring Ruth McBride or contact our office for more information.

Exalt the Name of God

Prayer
We enjoyed an hour of prayer together on Wednesday night, as we gathered to pray for the people and ministries of our church. You will find a prayer booklet on your seats this Sunday morning, please continue to join us in prayer for our church and ministries.

Don’t forget that we run a 9am Sunday prayer meeting. You’re invited to join in each week.

Serving
Children’s Ministry: We are looking for some young or young at heart people who would like to be helpers on Sunday mornings.  We need helpers in the school holidays (see Isaac Hema 027 878 8457) and during the school term (see Natalie McBride 027 557 7713).

Gardens: We are very thankful for the faithful people who come in and mow church lawns or weed gardens. If you would like to lend a hand, please let the office know.

Giving: Giving financially is also a big part of our worship. You can make cash donations in the offering boxes at the doors of the auditorium or give electronically to The Orchard Bank Account using your surname as the reference. Account number: 020452 0007000 01

If you would like to serve in some way at The Orchard Church, we would love to talk with you about what that could look like. Let us know on a church connect card!
