Our services are designed as a creative whole, where the sermon, music and other elements are all designed to lead people on a logical, intelligent journey that stimulates and inspires life change. While we will occasionally use older songs and hymns, we generally choose to use more modern music and songs that reflect in fresher ways our heart for God.
At the heart of our services, however, is the teaching of God’s Word, the Bible. We have a strong commitment to expository preaching of the Bible, where we teach a paragraph or literary unit in depth, explaining it as clearly and creatively as possible, and then practically applying the key truth or idea to life today.
The Orchard Church’s history is a testament to the faithfulness of God in fulfilling His commission of reaching people with the life changing news of His love and forgiveness through the work of Jesus Christ.
It all started in the 1920’s in the home of Mr and Mrs George Partridge. Their upper room soon became too small for the growing congregation so in 1946 a building was erected on Oxford Street, which is now the Te Puke RSA building.
In 1977 numbers again outgrew the current premises and so a building was constructed on Beatty Avenue. Beatty Avenue Bible Chapel was home for many years to this congregation, during that time growing ministries such as Youth Group, Rally, Mainly Music, 1930’s and many more.
By the new millennium congregation numbers had grown to the point that it became clear another building move was necessary and so a new facility on the outskirts of Te Puke was developed and opened with a change of name to The Orchard in December 2006.
The past 10 years in the MacLoughlin Drive location have been ones of foundation laying. Physically we continue to develop the building into a multi-functional facility used by many in the community, and spiritually we continue to establish a model of ministry and mission for the 21st century.
It is our heart’s desire to impact our town, nation and world with the life changing message of Jesus Christ. And we know that God, who has begun a good work in us, will bring it to completion for His glory alone as He does immeasurably more than all we could ever ask or even imagine!
